COVID Recovery and Beyond...
Dream School Foundation works to ensure equitable and quality education for children from marginalized backgrounds and help transform communities. The students supported under our various programmes hail from dire socio-economically deprived families, most of whom are daily wage earners. The economic pain of the COVID-19 pandemic has been brutal and has hit these families very badly.
While our efforts are underway to help them with financial support for basic survival needs for food, medicines, sanitation and hygiene, there is also a need bear other costs like phone recharge to ensure tele-communication in times of physical distancing and emergency. As educational institutions are adapting to the situation by moving to online virtual classes, it is deepening the divide even more severely, as privileged children are able to continue learning while the marginalized ones lose out.
As harsh as this sounds, the economic consequences and the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic will be far more detrimental and horrific for those without high school or college education. This emphasizes the urgent need to ensure equity and quality education for all, as the pandemic cautions a future which will call for new skill sets, agility, varied competencies to face challenges of the new world.
Amidst all this uncertainty and chaos, the resilient students still hold on fast to their dreams and are geared up to make our futures brighter. Together we can partner with them to create an inclusive, balanced and safer world for everyone.
