GB - Back To School
I’ve known every love possible, but as the years stretched out, the love I longed for the most is the one I shared with my sister.- “Josephine Angelini”
It was a beautiful day when baby vidya came in to the life of veena, instantly the bond of the big sister began.
The joy on this 9 year old's face can only be imagined with the arrival of this little bundle of joy into her life and the family. The Happiness knew no bounds...But little did they know their happiness was short lived.
That's the thing with bad luck right. It comes in all forms and shapes at the randomest time.
Sad news hit this family as this beautiful lil bundle of joy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoid Leukemia, (blood cancer) when she was just turning 3. The family was shattered and everything from that day were mostly downhill from then.
The parents having to give up their jobs and big sister Veena had to discontinue her studies due to the financial constraints the family had to face.
Treatment to cure the lil one was of the highest priority for the family. They stopped the elder sister schooling and the father could not work as he and his wife had to be with the lil angel all the time. Veena took care of the home when the parents were in hospital..
But the family held on to hope as little vidhya was sure a fighter, She was fearless as she refused to lookaway even when being injected. Always had a charming smile on her face...It was during the last year of vidyas life when she was 6yrs old the family was introduced to Golden Butterflies (GB). The first thing she asked the GB team was to take care of her elder sister and make her study. She always spoke of how much she loved her and her mom.
Golden Butterflies team of counsellors were with lil Vidya and the family thro out this painful period when she had to go into palliation. In the end she had a pain free death.Vidhya left us and the family at the tender age of 7. It was devastating not just for the family but for all of us at GB too. As this little girl was a joy to be with.
Golden Butterflies had a wish that needed to be fullfilled, though this loss can never be undone.
We got the family together for bereavement support and there we took it on us to get the elder sister Veena back into school. The fees were paid and being a smart n bright girl the school took her back and she passed her 9th std.
Now Veena aspires to conquer all of lil Vidhya's dreams. She is in her 10th std and wants to become a teacher and give the family a stable source of income. Her father is an auto driver and her mum in her spare time sells footwear on the pavements.
Come join hands with us to help this family by helping Veena further her studies and make her dreams come true.
Together we can... Donate to Golden Butterflies and let's give her WINGS to fly. (Names of children have been changed to protect the privacy of individuals)
