One third of 39 million blind people in the world live in India and out of them there are 13 million treatable blinds which is a huge number. To address the problem of blindness and bridge the gap of lack of eye care services in rural Alwar, NGO Sapna constructed the Mahatma Gandhi Netralaya in 2017 exclusively for the poor and underprivileged in Alwar, Rajasthan. Till date over 1500 cataract surgeries have been performed in the Netralaya.

A cataract surgery costs Rs. 3000. We charge Rs. 2000 from the patient. Remaining amount of Rs. 1000 is to be raised. We plan to conduct 200 cataract surgeries in next three months.

The target beneficiaries are the poor rural folks of Alwar and neighboring districts. We provide complementary services to the poorest of the poor and even give them clothes, chappals and a walking stick.

A small gesture of yours will provide relief to thousands of poor and bring light in their seemingly dark world.
