The lockdown has led to a loss of income for daily wage workers. With no disposable income, they are unable to purchase food and sanitation supplies. While parents struggle with a loss of income, children are out of school and are facing several challenges to continue learning due to low levels of access to smartphones and internet connections.

We are providing ration kits in Chennai to marginalised families in partnership with Chennai City Police, Press Trust of India and Youth Feed India.

Each kit costs Rs 415 and contains:

Rice 5 kg

Toor daal 1 kg

Cooking oil 1/2 ltr

Chilli powder 200 gms

Salt 500 gms

Turmeric powder 100 gms

Sugar 500 gms

Onions 0.5 kg

Potatoes 0.5 kg

Vermicelli 400 gms

We are also providing sanitation kits to families in Chennai.

Each kit costs INR 450/- and contains 1 bottle each of:

Dettol hand wash 500 ml

Lizol 500 ml

Harpic 500 ml

Hand sanitiser 100 ml &

Mosquito repellent roll-on &

8 sanitary napkins

Additionally, we are recharging phones of children who have signed up for online classes on Zoom and Khan Academy, to ensure they continuously learn.

With the Chennai City Police as our partners, procurement and delivery is efficient during the uniqueness of the lockdown. Moreover, local police stations along with members of Press Trust of India and partner NGOs provide us with beneficiaries who are most marginalized - families without ration cards or migrant workers. Our team of coordinators then vets this database through our verification process and finalizes delivery. We try to meet all enquiry requirements in our capacity within 24 hours.

We are also the NGO responsible for conceptualizing the game 'Survive Covid' that has gone viral across the globe.

In the first seven weeks of lockdown, we have served 50,000+ people with our food kits. We have also distributed our sanitation kits to 2800 people and empowered over 250 girls with 2000+ sanitary napkins. Our work has been featured in the news as well:
