India is suffering. As it deals with its worst health crisis in living memory, we want to do whatever we can to help, so please join us.

You have all seen the distressing images and heard the devastating stories that are making headlines daily. It seems as though every family in India is in pain - losing relatives and friends.

There is a desperate need to support the exhausted health infrastructure, breaking under the pressure of a ferocious second wave of COVID-19. With more than 300,000 recorded cases every day - higher than any other country in its peak - the health system is on the brink of collapse. So we feel the best way to help is to provide the support it needs. Here is what we are fundraising for:

Oxygen supply - the need of the hour

There is a critical and immediate need for oxygen in hospitals and COVID Care Centres that our NGOs across the country have been registering with us. In response to this, we will support critical patients by:

Setting up oxygen generation plants in hospitals/COVID facility compounds. A 1000-litre capacity plant costs ₹1.4 cr (approx $190,000)

Providing oxygen concentrators which use oxygen from the air and convert it to medical grade oxygen. A patient in need of a concentrator needs to be on it for 5-7 days. One oxygen concentrator costs ₹55,000 (approx $745).

Providing oxygen cylinders and refilling them: While oxygen cylinders help a person in need with oxygen support for 5-7 days and costs ₹25,000 (approx $340) the challenge that India is also faced with at the moment is transporting of cylinders as the manufacture is limited to a few states. Refilling a cylinder costs ₹2,500/refill (approx $35), which is the need of the hour

Providing life-saving equipment:

Bipaps which are also known as non-invasive ventilation. One Bipap costs approximately ₹60,000 (approx $800). Ventilators which are priced at ₹5,00,000 ($6750) per item.

Setting up Covid Care Centres

Sick COVID patients have been forced to find ways to treat themselves at home as hospitals are choked with the surge in the number of cases and a shortage in oxygen supply.

To support severely ill patients with the treatment they need, GiveIndia is working towards setting up of COVID Care and Isolation Centres, fully equipped with quality care services to treat mild and moderate (non-ICU) COVID patients.

Vaccination and Testing

With immunisation against COVID being made available for the age group of 18 and above, the need of the hour is to set up vaccine centres across the country.

GiveIndia will work in collaboration with the local Govt. authorities, NGO partners and private hospitals to set up these centres near villages. They will work in association with the Gram Panchayats and district administration to help with the registration and transportation of people to the nearest vaccine centre. Cost of running one centre is ₹3,40,000 ($4600)/month* and all it takes is ₹105 (approx $1.5)/person for vaccination drive (vaccine cost excluded).

To contain the rapid increase of COVID-19 in the country, GiveIndia is also focusing on rapid testing across India especially in airports, railway stations and bus depots. GiveIndia will work with trusted NGO partners, government hospitals and private diagnostic centres to set up these testing centres.

It takes ₹3,40,000 ($4600)/month* to run one vaccination centre and the approximate price for rapid antigen testing is ₹750* (approx $10) per person

Give now to help India cope with the crippling effect of the pandemic

Together we can and we will help India fight COVID, again. To everyone who has always supported us unconditionally in whatever we have done, we ask you to help us give support where it is most needed. Let's come together and help India stay safe and breathe again.
